Sudeley Castle Visitor's Centre, UK
This was the home of Henry VIII’s surviving wife Queen Katherine Parr. Fred Batterton (Batterton Tyack) developed a design for a new visitor centre to remove pressure of parking close to the Grade 1 castle.
The scheme adapted and extended a disused Georgian farmstead group to provide restaurant and cafe, garden centre, orientation & information facility, children’s play complex, archaeology interpretation, shop and road train station for castle visits. The car park was carefully relocated in adjacent woodland and the park restored.
